Monkey Hat! Knit on size 7US needles 108-160 yrds Color A approx: 20 yrds Color C 10 yrds Colors B & D Scrap yarn for mouth. Color A will be the Main color of the hat, B and C should be in the same color family but B should be a lighter shade. D should be white. (sized for a kid) CO 96 stitches with Color A\* 1-6: (K2P2) rib 7: Knit For rows 8-36: Even numbered rows: P 32, Follow chart, P32 Odd numbered rows: K 32, follow chart, K32 For an adult size add 12sts to CO which will add one repeat to each of the decreases.

Pattern illustration

Ears (make 2) Co 8 sts using color C 1. Kfb into all sts (16ts) 2. Knit 3. \*k1, kfb\* repeat across row (24sts) 4. Knit 5. Knit 6. Knit 7. \*k1, k2tog\* repeat across row (16sts) 8. Knit 9. \*k2tog\* along (8sts) Bind off leaving a long yarn tail. Use the yarn tail to stitch together the row ends. Once you reach the cast on stitches draw the yarn through for a drawstring effect, pull tightly and secure. Weave in any loose ends. Attach on either side of face. I lined them up with the bottom edge of the ear even with the bottom of the cheeks on row 16.

Finishing:

Make a 1 %2 - 2 inch I-cord using a pink or red colored yarn, attach to mouth area to create mouth. ( I made a half smile for my monkeys, a full smile might take a longer Icord.) Using A embroider a V for each eye (see chart) Using C embroider a V for the nose (see chart)
