Top down cardigan with a flourish of lace to flatter every shape. This pattern written for those who are familiar with top down construction. Model is 5'2" tall with size 38" bust. PM - Place Marker SM - Slip Marker M1 - Make one CO - cast on SSK - slip as to knit, slip as to knit, K2tog through the back loop K2tog - knit two stitch together KF&B - knit front and back A total of 40(41, 42, 44, 45, 46, 47) total stitches BeginShoulders: RaglanIncreases Row 1 (RS): K1, knit to next marker, M1, SM, K1, M1, work to next marker, M1, SM, K1, M1, work to next marker, M1, SM, K1, M1, work to next marker, M1, SM , K1, M, knit to end. Row 2 (WS): Purl across - slip markers Repeat Row 1 and 2 four times. V-Neck Shaping begins: On the next RS begin neck shaping while continuing raglan shaping as above. V neck shaping row: K1, M1, knit to next marker, M1, SM, K1, M1, knit to next marker, M1, SM, K1, M1, knit to next marker, M1, SM, K1, M1, knit to next marker, M1, SM, K1, M1, knit til one stitch left, M1, K1. Repeat V-Neck shaping row every $8^{\mathrm{th}}$ row. You will make a total of 6(7, 7, 8, 8, 8, 8) v-neck increases. Continue working the raglan increases on each RS row, and v -neck increases every 8th row until the raglan seam (measure on the diagonal neck to underarm) measures 8 (8.5, 9, 9.5, 10.5, 11.5, 12.5) inches.
Separating sleeves:
On next RS row, work across left front to first sleeve marker (remove all sleeve markers), place sleeve stitches on scrap yarn. CO 1(2, 2, 2, 3, 4, 4) stitches, PM, CO 1(2, 2, 2, 3, 4, 4) stitches. (these are your armpit stitches) Work across back to next sleeve marker, place sleeves on scrap yarn CO 1(2, 2, 2, 3, 4, 4) stitches, PM, CO 1(2, 2, 2, 3, 4, 4) stitches. Knit to end. (arm pit stitches) The stitches you have left on the needles are your body stitches.
Body:
Continue v-neck shaping until you have completed them all (as above). Work the body stitches in stockinette stitch until body measures (on back from cast-on edge to needles) 11.5(12, 12.5, 13, 13.5, 14, 14.5) inches.

Body Lace:
Set up row (RS): K2, $\star_{\mathsf{p}2}$ , k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk \* Repeat lace sections between \* until there are 4 stitches left - p2, k2. Begin Row on row 1 of lace pattern and continue rows 1-4 until lace measures 3 inches.
Gull wing lace.(mltpl 7)
Row 1: (WS): P2, k2,\*p7, $k2^{\star}$ p2 Row 2: k2, p2, \* k1, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k1, p2 (this is your purl ditch)\* k2 Row 3: (WS): P2, k2, $\star_{\mathsf{p}7}$ , $k2^{\star}$ p2 Row 4: k2, p2, \*k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, p2 (this is your purl ditch)\*, k2 When lace is approximately 3 inches - at the next Row 3 of the lace - substitute this row: P2, $^{\star}{\sf k}^{\intercal}$ kf&b, p7, k1, kf&b\* p2 - this will increase one stitch in each purl "ditch" . You now have 3 stitches in your puri ditch. Continue in lace pattern with 3 purl stitches in the ditch until lace measures approximately 5" - at the next Row 3 of the lace - substitute this row: P2, $^{\star}\mathsf{k}2$ ,kf&b, $\star_{\mathsf{p}7}$ , k2, kf&b\* p2 - this will increase one stitch in each purl "ditch" . You now have 4 stitches in your purl ditch. Continue in lace pattern with 4 pur stitches in the ditch until lace measures approximately 7" - at the next Row 3 of the lace - substitute this row: P2, $^{\star}\mathsf{k}3$ ,kf&b, $\star_{\mathsf{p}7}$ , k3, kf&b\* p2 - this will increase one stitch in each purl “ditch" . You now have 5 stitches in your purl ditch.
Sleeves:

Pick up stitches from waste yarn and continue in st st until $5^{\circ}$ less than desired final length. Then begin lace pattern in the round pattern as follows: Gull wing lace - in the round (mltpl 7) Row 1: (WS): k7, p2 Row 2: k2, p2, ki, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k1, p2 (this is your purl ditch) Row 3: (WS): p7, k2 Row 4: k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, p2 (this is your purl ditch) Knit gullace for1 inch. Then increase one purl stitch in the pur ditch every 1" until5 inches of gull lace is complete or until desired length. \*Knit 1 row, Purl 1 row\* Repeat \*\* three times. Bind off in Purl. Neckline/buttonband: Pick up fronts and neckinewith long circularneedle frm front sidestaring onbotm right. Pick up stitch as follows: Front edge: 2 stitches - skip one (2 for every three on front edge) until first raglan line. At front raglan line - pick up one for one around to $4^{\mathrm{th}}$ raglan line Down last front - 2 stitches - skip one (2 for every three on front edge) to the end. Knit garter (knit every row) for $\%^{\ast}$ . Place single buttonhole when at desired spot using YO, k2tog. Continue in garter until band is $1.5^{\circ}$ Bind off: Use size 8 or 9 needle if you are a tight knitter.
