Showers Bring Flowers Spring Hat
Design by Helene Yates This cute little hat is great for the spring, full of color and fun. Using the traditional Fair Isle style with only two colors per row.
PATTERN:
This was made using five colors: Color A = Pink Color B = Black Color C = White Color D = Green Color E = Purple 1. With Smaller Circular needle or DPN's, cast on 70 (80, 90). Join to first stitch to make a circle, being careful not to twist the stitches, place marker. 2. Knit 1, purl 1 all around to create the ribbing. 3. Continue to do step #2 until the piece measures 1 inches (4cm) 4. Begin chart starting in the bottom right. Try and keep the stitches on the right hook spread out to ensure the floats aren't too tight. 5. Once the chart is complete begin to shape the crown.
Shape the Crown
1. \*K8, K2tog\*, repeat from \* around [63 (73, 83) stitches] 2. Knit around 3. \*K7, K2tog\*, repeat from \* around [56 (66, 76) stitches] 4. Knit around 5. \*K6, K2tog\*, repeat from \* around [49 (59,69) stitches] 6. Knit around 7. \*K5, K2tog\*, repeat from \* around [42 (52,62) stitches] 8. Knit around 9. \*K4, K2tog\*, repeat from \* around [35 (45, 55) stitches] 10. Knit around 11. \*K3, K2tog\* repeat from \* around [28 (38, 48) stitches] 12. Knit around 13. \*K2, K2tog\*, repeat from \* around [21 (31, 41) stitches] 14. \*K1, K2tog\*, repeat from \* around [14 (24, 34) stitches], we've skipped the knit around step here to ensure the hat isn't pointed at the top. 15. For small size, skip this step and go onto step 16. \*K2tog\*, repeat from \* around (17, 27 stitches) 16. Cut yarn and use the yarn needle to thread through the loops, pull tight and weave in ends. \*Chart can be found on page 3 of this pattern\*
