
DOUBLE KNIT MAGIC THE GATHERING SCARF

MATERIALS
Yarn: MC: Knit Picks Swish DK-Dove Heather (5 skeins; 615yds) CC: Knit Picks Swish DK- Coal (5 skeins; 615yds) Needles: Size 3 circular or straight needles (Or whatever size needed to obtain gauge)
MEASUREMENTS
Dimensions 10.5" x 80" before blocking 10" x 90" after blocking (or desired length) Gauge: 18sts and 23 rows (4") in double knit stockinette stitch Techniques Used: Double Knitting Reading Charts
Instructions for Double Knitting
Every even row corresponds to a RS round.
A white stitch: bring strands to the back, K1 MC; bring both strands to the front, P1 CC A black stitch: bring strands to the back, K1 CC; bring both strands to the front, P1 MC Every odd row corresponds to a WS round. A white stitch: bring strands to back, K1 CC; bring both strands to the front, P1 MC A black stitch: bring strands to the back, K1 MC; bring both strands to the front, P1 CC
Instructions for Scarf
Cast on 100 stitches in MC. Join CC and begin row 1 of Chart 1 (WS) Bring both strands to the back of work, K1 CC; bring both strands to the back of work, P1 MC. Repeat for all 100 stitches. Work Chart 1; Chart 2; Chart 3; Chart 4; Chart 5; Chart 4'; Chart 3'; Chart 2'; and then Chart 1' Binding Off. Since the last row of Chart 1' was even binding off will occur on the WS of the fabric. SSP2tog twice. Pass the first stitch over the second. \*SSP2tog, Pass the first stitch over the second\* repeat for all stitches. Block to desired dimensions. If desired, add fringe.
Double Knitting Edge
Pictured to the Right Every row, Knit 1, bring both strands forward, wrap the working yarn (for the WS) underneath the working yarn for the RS; P1 with the WS working yarn. Effectively, for the right side, you will wrap the CC strand around the MC strand; and vice versa for the WS. This will Create a consistent, clean, edge without the two sides of the fabric separating.
