Brownie's Dayflower Throw

by Cath Ward
This throw takes a dayflower lace motif knit large into an allover pattern and uses a handspun yarn for gentle variations of colour and texture. With different yarn it could be anything from a baby blanket to a shawl .. Yarn: Mosely Park handspun EL x Merino (Brownie)/Alpaca/Silk: 6 skeins/600g Needles: 5mm (circular), 6 stitch markers Gauge approx 15 sts and 24 rows = 10cm square. Finished and blocked piece = 85 x 160cm. Instructions: Note that the stitch count varies row by row. I've included 'no stitch' areas in the chart to keep the repeats lined up. Ignore the stitches which are 'no stitch' and move straight to the next stitch. For example Row 11 of the chart reads, YO, K2tog, YO, K2tog, K2, YO ... Cast on 121 stitches using a stretchy cast on such as long tail over 2 needles. Rows 1-5: knit all stitches. Row 6: K3, purl to last 3 stitches, K3. Row 7: Commence chart, including 1 repeat of area marked. Note the first and last 5 stitches of each row are NoT included in the chart. ALL RIGHT SIDE ROWS: K5, Chart, K5. ALL WRONG SIDE ROWS: K3, P2, Chart, P2, K3. Continue chart, repeating rows 1-16, until desired length is reached, finishing up on either row 2, 6, 10, or 14 (wrong side, purl all across). Knit 5 further rows and cast off loosely. NB: On Row 9 of pattern you will find the 3rd and 5th stitch markers need to removed and replaced before the ssk. On Row 13 of pattern you will find the 2nd and 4th stitch markers need to removed and replaced before the ssk.
