Notes
Knit first and last four stitches of every row to prevent the ends from curling. I used a combination of stranded and intarsia techniques to knit the Stargyle scarf. The major blocks of color (Old Gold, Burgundy, and Black) were knit using stranded knitting. The white argyle lines were knit with bobbins, using intarsia to prevent long floats on the wrong side of the scarf. An alternative is stranded knitting while weaving the floats as you work across the stitches, relying solely on intarsia, or adding the white argyle lines with duplicate stitch after the knitting is complete. Use whatever style or combination is most comfortable for you.
Pattern
Cast on 59 stitches, knit all stitches for 12 rows. (Wrong side row) k4, place marker, p51, place marker, k4. Knit first and last four stitches of every row to prevent the ends from curling. Alternate Knit and Purl rows (stockinette stitch) for 2 inches. Starting on (Right Side Row) Work chart A Continue in stockinette stitch until scarf measures 53 inches from cast on edge, remembering to knit the first and last 4 stitches of every row. Knit all stitches for 12 rows. Bind off loosely, weave in ends, and block.

Cover floats on wrong side if desired by knitting a rectangle and seaming it to back of colorwork. Cast on 32 stitches in main color and knit for 51 rows. Bind off and seam to wrong side of scarf.
