Dragon's Eye
This simple scarf if knit lengthways using two pattern stitches. The yarn used here is long striping Jawoll Magic Degradé in colourway Lovebird. However any sockweight yarn would be suitable for this pattern and in fact if you wished you could actually make it in any weight of wool using a variety of needle sizes. A very versatile pattern for busting your Stash and for a quick gift.
MATERIALS
100 grams of 400 metre Sockweight wool. 1 circular needle 3.75 mm at least 100 cm long. 1 x Tapestry needle.
Tension/Gauge
Unimportant. The garment will be blocked after finishing to achieve the correct length of 54 inches lengthways by 8 inches width..
Abbreviations
K = Knit K2 tog = Knit 2 together ssk = slip the next 2 stitches knitwise onto the right hand needle, insert left hand needle back into the stitches knit the two together. (2 stitches become one and this makes a left slanting decrease) P2togtbl = Purl 2 together through back loops M1 = knit into the front and back of the stitch to make 2 stitches. yo = Yarn over needle Wyif sl1p = with yarn in front as if to purl, slip 1 sts purlways
METHOD:
Cast on 294 sts and knit 4 rows. Commence Pattern noting that the first 4 and last 4 sts of each row are worked in KNIT only stitch to give an edging. Pattern in between these sts. On each row it will make for a neater edging if you work the first stitch as wyif sll1p but the choice is yours.
