Tishoo by Knitti Politi

A small hug for pocket tissues! Super simple to knit, all you need to know is how to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, and sew two straight seams. These sweet little covers work up quickly and would be great for small gifts or to sell at fundraisers and craft fairs. Items made from this pattern may be sold. In association with Knitted Knockers UK, see page 3 for more details.

Instructions
Cast on 30 sts in contrast colour. Knit for 2 rows. Change to main colour, knit for 2 rows, then work in Diagonal Rib as follows:
Diagonal Rib Pattern
(4 st and 8 row repeat + 2 edge stitches for seaming) Row 1 (RS): k1,\*k2, p2, repeat from \* to last st, k1. Row 2 (Ws): k1, \*k2, p2, repeat from \* to last st, k1. Row 3: k1, \*k1, p2, k1, repeat from \* to last st, k1. Row 4: k1, \*p1, k2, p1, repeat from \* to last st, k1. Row 5: k1, \*p2, k2, repeat from \* to last st, k1. Row 6: k1, \*p2, k2, repeat from \* to last st, k1. Row 7: k1, \*p1, k2, p1, repeat from \* to last st, k1. Row 8: k1, \*k1, p2, k1, repeat from \* to last st, k1. Work Diagonal Rib, 5 more times (6 times in total). Change back to contrast colour. Knit 3 rows. Bind off on the wrong side, in knit. Stitch pattern note: On all right side rows, the rib pattern moves towards you by one stitch, to create the diagonal effect. On all wrong side rows, stitches are worked as they present themselves (knit the knits and purl the purls). If you knit right-handed the diagonal will lean to the right, if you knit left-handed the diagonal will lean to the left.

Making Up

Step 1: Start with the right side of the work facing, and fold the piece so that the cast-on and bound-off ends meet in the centre.

Step 2: The wrong side of the work is now facing. Sew straight across the top and bottom as shown, using a back stitch seam. Copyright @ Ellen Kapusniak 2014 For pattern support email: ellen@knittipoliti.com
How to: Back Stitch
With work together and wrong sides facing outwards, insert needle through both layers from from front to back and pull through (start point). Make a small stitch, inserting needle from back to front and pull through. Reinsert the needle at the start point, from front to back and pull through. Continue making stitches in this way, working into the start point of each stitch. Once sewn up, turn the work the right way out, weave in ends and pop some pocket tissues inside!
