HIP tO BE SQUARe
Wrap up a bar of bay rum soap and give this one to a guy - nice and geometric, this washcloth is designed around two square-shaped stitches - “waffle" and “lace squares" - all knit together to make a bigger square. With a simple "make-one" increase and only one other non-basic stitch (p2tog), this is a wonderful pattern to start with if you're a beginning knitter.
Materials:
$\checkmark$ Worsted weight cotton yarn, approximately 2 oz. $\checkmark$ US size 8 knitting needles $\checkmark$ Stitch marker $\checkmark$ Tapestry needle for weaving in ends Finished size: approximately $8^{\prime\prime}\mathrm{x}\,8^{\prime\prime}$
Stitches:
$\mathrm{k}=$ knit ${\mathfrak{p}}{=}$ purl sl1 $=$ slip one stitch purlwise ${\mathrm{m}}1{=}^{\prime\prime}$ make one” - loop working yarn around right needle once to “make one” stitch p2tog $=$ purl two stitches together
