How to Check Gauge:
3-10 Years Head Circumference: 19-20.5" Hat Height: 8" \* Crochet a chain 5" in length. HDC in the third CH from the hook and all the way across. When you reach the end of the row, CH2 and turn. Repeat this process until you have a swatch that is at least 5" in height. \* Using a ruler or measuring tape, determine how many stitches you have across in a 4" space, as well as how many rows you have going up and down in a 4" space. Tween/Teen Head Circumference: 20.5-22" Hat Height: 8.5" \* If your 4" swatch has more stitches than the designated gauge, use a larger hook to work the pattern.Ifyourswatchhasfewerstitchesthanthe designated gauge, use a smaller hook to work the pattern. Create a swatch with a different size hook if necessary until you reach the appropriate gauge. Women Head Circumference: 21.5-22.5" Hat Height: 9" Men Head Circumference: 23-24" Hat Height: 10" Extra Large Head Circumference: 24.5-25.5" Hat Height: 10.5"
Notes:
- This pattern is edged all the way around with a slip stitch, meaning the finished hat will have very little stretch. Because of This, the hat is worked to make the base have a slightly larger circumference than the head circumference listed. - The hat is worked in continuous rounds, so you may want to use your stitch marker to hold the first stitch of eachrow. - When weaving in ends, be sure to hide them within areas of the same color. - The number in parenthesis at the end of each row indicates the number of stitches worked in that row.
