Pockets:
Make 2 pockets Using #7 dp needles, cast on 8 sts, stockinette st for 12 rows, leave long tail and set aside. Leg: With #7 dp needle, cast on 32 sts. Knit first three rows. Starting with a purl row, in stockinette st knit 38 rows. Leave on needle or stitch holder. Set aside. Make leg 2 following first leg directions. Cast on 1 stitch, knit across leg: cast on 2 sts and knit across first leg: cast on 1 stitch, pm. (68 sts) Join and working in rounds, knit 18 rounds. Row 1: Knit first two sts, purl to last two sts, knit last two sts. Row 2 & 3: Work in stockinette st keeping first and last two sts in garter st. Row 4: K2, (k2tog, k4), repeat to last 4 sts; k4. (57sts) Starting with wrong side, work next three rows in stockinette st keeping first two and last two sts in garter st. Pockets & Tail Hole: Next row: K5, cast off 8sts, k12, k2tog, bind off 4 sts, (move last st worked back to left needle) k2tog, k12, bind off 8 sts, k5. (36sts) Wrong side: K2, p3, p8 pocket sts, p12, cast on 4sts, p12, p8 pocket sts, p3, k2. (55 sts) Work 4 more rows keeping first and last 2 sts garter st. Right side row: K21, k2tog, k10, k2tog, k21. (54 sts) Wrong side: k2, rib to last two sts, k2. Work 3 more rows ribbing for a total of 4 row, bind off on the 5th row keeping first and last two sts in garter st.
Straps:
Using Us4 dp needles, pick up 5 sts on each side centered over tail hole and knitting first and last st of every row, three center sts in stockinette st, work long enough to attach to front of pants.
Santa Pants:
Knit as above keeping straps in garter st.
ButtonTab:
Using US4 dp needles and right side facing, starting at left top, pick up and knit 18 sts. Knit 2 rows. Button hole row: K1, k2tog, yo, k5, k2tog, yo, k5, yo, k2tog, k1. (18 sts) Knit two more rows and bind off loosely. Right Side: Pick up and k18 sts. Knit 5 rows, bind on the 6th row. Sew down bottom of button tab and button hole tab at the bottom. Sew on buttons.
