Use a small pouch that fits the bottom of your phanatic to hold a small amount of weighted poly-pellets (available at most craft stores)-- your goal is to give him that delightfully bottom heavy sway of the real-life Phanatic. (Don't be stubborn like me and just pour some straight in, or you will end up with phanatic pellets all over your home). Place the phanatic's unibrow close to the top of your work and sew into place. Set the "frog" eyes very close together at the base of the eyebrow so that their upper halves overlap the eyebrow, then push the back-locks into place. Use the fiber fill to finish stuffing the phanatic being careful not to overstuff. Row 71: K2tog around. Break yarns, thread through remaining stitches and pull tight. Weave in all ends. Thread the yarn needle with a single strand of pink worsted yarn and sew a series of small loops around three-quarters of each eye, tucking the loops under the edges of the safety eyes.

Thread the yarn needle with a single strand of red worsted yarn and use duplicate stitch to embroider evenly placed pin- stripes around the white section (jersey) of your phanatic. Use chain stitch to embroider a non-copyrightinfringing "p" somewhere on the front of said jersey. Snout (make 1): Hold two strands of suede together and cast on 16 stitches. Divide stitches between 3 dpns and join to knit in the round. Rows 1-10: Knit Break suede yarn and join two strands of fun fur held together. Rows 11-12: Knit Row 13: Kfb around (32 stitches) Rows 14-18: Knit Row 19: K2tog around (16 stitches) Rows 20-21: Knit Break fun fur and join single strand of red worsted yarn. Rows 22-43: Knit Row 44: K2tog around (8 stitches) Row 45: K2tog around (4 stitches) Move these 4 stitches to a single needle. Break red yarn and join single strand of white worsted yarn. Work in I-cord for 5 inches. K2tog across cord (2 stitches). Break yarn and pull through remaining stitches. Weave in all ends.

Push the red section of your knitting (snout lining) into the green part (outside of snout), holding onto the white I-cord (tongue) so that it sticks out the end of your new phantabulous phanatic snout. Use mattress stitch to attach the snout just below the eyes, pinching in the base as you do to give it a bit of a cone shape. Use a sharp pair of scissors to trim the fun fur section into a more evenly defined ring, then make your phanatic give you a raspberry. :p Arms (make 2): Holding two strands of white worsted together, cast on 8 stitches. Distribute between 3 dpns and join to knit in the round. Row 1: K1, Kfb around (12 stitches) Row 2 and all even rows through 12: Knit Row 3: K2, Kfb around (16 stitches) Row 5: K3, Kfb around (20 stitches) Row 7: Knit Row 9: K4, Kfb around (24 stitches) Rows 11-12: Knit Break double-stranded white yarn and join double-stranded suede/fun fur combo. Rows 13-16: Knit Row 17: K2tog, K9, Kfb twice, K9, ssk (24 stitches) Row 18: Knit Row 19: K2tog twice, K6, Kfb four times, K6, ssk twice (24 stitches) Row 20: K2tog three times, K12, ssk three times (18 stitches) Row 21: K3, K2tog three times, ssk three times, K3 (12 stitches) Break yarn, threading tail through stitches. Stuff the arm, then pull tail to close opening, but not so tight as to distort the shape. Weave in all ends, making sure to close hole at cast on end. Attach one arm to each side using mattress stitch, making sure they mirror each other. Thread the yarn needle with a single strand of red worsted yarn and use duplicate stitch to embroider evenly placed pin- stripes around the white section of each arm.

Legs (make 2): Holding two strands of red worsted together, cast on 8 stitches. Distribute between 3 dpns and join to knit in the round. Row 1: Kfb around (16 stitches) Rows 2-8: Knit Row9: $\ast\mathsf{K}2$ , Kfb, repeat from \* to last stitch, K1 (21 stitches) Knit for 3 inches. Bind off and weave in all ends. Stuff both legs with fiber fill, then attach to bottom of body using mattress stitch. Pop each footsie into a wee shoe, tie laces, and gasp in awe as your phanatic stands upright all on his own! Your phanatic is feeling lazy? Shift those poly-pellets around inside his phabulous rear until he's balanced.

PHINALLY! Get on out there and strut your stuff on Broad Street... after all, we're WORLD PH'N CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is no crying in baseball. Tail Feathers (make 5): Holding one strand of blue worsted yarn together with one strand of blue eyelash yarn, cast on 2 stitches. Work in I-cord to random lengths between 1.5 to 2.5 inches, making each I-cord slightly different than the others.
