Comprehensive Guide to Crocheting Angels: Detailed Instructions and Tips for Beginners and Experts

Crochet Angels

I used 8 ply acrylic yarn to make the angels, and a 4mm hook, producing a 15cm high x 12cm wide figure. Use whatever ply pleases you, but choose a hook which will give a close, dense finish or the stuffing will show through. The stuffing was polyester hobby fill(hollow fibre). The halo was made using silver sewing thread, doubled, but again there are many options from using a single thread of something thicker to attaching a wire haloinstead. This pattern is worked in a continuous round, I use a piece of yarn to mark the start of each round. When you start to make the increases under the wings you need to go past the end of the row by one stitch at the end of the increase rows otherwise there will be a twist. (While it's just a cone, the twist doesn't matter) Around round 5 or six you will want to turn the cone inside out so you're working on the outside of the ring . Stuff the angel 2/3 of the way with hollow fibre filling. Use you crochet hook to push the filling into the tail. Flatten the round out with your hook on the right side and start stitching the top/shoulders of the angel closed by chain stitching front and back stitches together. As you stitch and stuff, the arms willrise at the tips to look more like spread wings. Keep stuffing (again use the hook to push stuffing into tips) as you stitch the shoulders closed. Tie off and weave the end into the body. Make Head (also crocheted in continuous round) Round 1. SC 6 in magic circle (6) Round 2. SC inc in each st (12) Round 3.
