This sample is knit in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Superchunky & uses approximately 43 yards. |
Size = 15 inches Hat pictured is modeled by a two year old. | Needle = US 11 (8mm) |
Gauge = 2.5 stitches/in | Skills= Cast On/Off, Knit, Purl, seaming, making pom poms |
Cast On 38 stitches. K1 P1 for four rows (1x1 rib stitch) Knit in Stockinette until work measures 6” from CO edge. Bind off. Seam up side edge and center (or place where you prefer). Note: you may want to place the edge seam to the side, especially if your baby will be lying back. No one wants to rest their head on a bulky seam! Seam Across the top. Using a pompom shaper, make two and sew onto corners of hat.

I designed this hat for the new mother and baby's knitting circle at the 14"h Street Y in New York City. It was meant to be simple (no shaping!), quick (bulky yarn!) and cute (pompoms!) Denise Lindberg, all rights reserved.
