Denise

Test knit and photo by katycabot on Ravelry I designed my Diamonds on the Soles of Her Socks pattern, and Denise said, \*"Wow. I'd like to see that design as a hat." So, that's what she got. And I named the pattern for her and her wonderful idea. She used the same colors as I used in the sock pattern, but she suggested the hat would look great in holiday colors, too. She's right. It would also look perfect with your favorite team colors, and will coordinate well with my Team Spirit socks. Because it's stranded, it is doubly warm. Also, it uses only two colors, so it's a very easy-to-follow colorwork pattern. The hat is slightly slouchy rather than a tight-fitting toque. Choose your colors and give it a go! (Each dec round has 2 decreases next to each other; k2tog for first dec at beginning of chart repeat, and ssk for second each time at end of chart panel repeat.) After round 64, with 16 sts on the needles, k2tog around. 8 sts remain. Knit last 8 sts for six rounds. Cut yarn leaving a tail several inches long. Move all sts from needles to tapestry needle, and pull tightly. Secure from the inside. Finishing: Tie and weave in or trim all yarn ends. Soak and block to desired shape and fit.
