Scraptastic Hat by Jane Tanner (Knit Jane Knit) @ 2012 For personal use only. Not for commercial use in any way. Sizes: (small 21-22", medium 22-23", large 23-24") head circumference Gauge: 7 sts/1" in stockinette stitch.
Materials:
2 oz. fingering weight yarn: sample knit in four shades of Plucky Knitter Primo Fingering, each weighing 12 grams (a bit less than 0.45 oz. each). A solid color could also be used for entire hat. US Size 3 needles for working in the round (double points or circulars) 6 stitch markers
Abbreviations:
k2tog-knit two together ssk-slip 2 stitches, one at a time to right needle. Pass back to left needle and knit 2 stitches together throughback loops. CO loosely (132, 138, 144) sts. Place 1 marker and join for knitting in the round, making sure not to twist. Work (8, 10, 12) rounds of ribbing: \*k2, p1 repeat from \* around. Change to stockinette stitch. Switch colors when one runs out or as desired for striping. Work until hat measures (5, 5.25, 5.5) inches from cast on edge. End at the beginning of the round marker. Set up rounds for decreases: Slip the marker, \*knit (22, 23, 24) sts and place a marker, repeat from \* around 5 times; then, knit to the end of the round. There will now be 6 evenly spaced sections and 6 markers. When working the decreases, slip markers as you come to them.

for size small: work rounds 4-24, 27-29. for size medium: work rounds 1-24, 27-29. for size large, work rounds 4-29. For size medium only: (skip for sizes small or large) Round 1: \*k 20 sts, k2tog, k1 repeat from \* around six times.
