Herringbone Candle Cozy
Materials Used:
US size 4 double pointed needles Light weight yarn (3) Accent yarn (can be any weight) Stitch marker Tapestry needle Glass jar (5 in. tall, ca. 3.5 in. wide) Abbreviations: CO: cast on K: knit K2tog: knit two stitches together P: purl SSK: slip, slip, knit YO: yarn over \*: repeat any stitches between asterisks
Instructions:
CO 44 stitches Join in the round. Row 1: P whole round Row 2: K whole round Row 3: \*YO K2tog\* for the whole round Row 4: K whole round Repeating Pattern: Row 5: Knit Row 6: \*SSK, K2, YO, K2\* K2 at end of row Row 7: Knit Row 8: \*SSK, K2, YO, K2\* K2 at end of row Row 9: Knit Row 10: \*SSK, K2, YO, K2\* K2 at end of row Row 11: Knit Row 12: K1 \*K2, YO, K2, K2tog\* K1 at end of row Row 13: Knit Row 14: K1 \*K2, YO, K2, K2tog\* K1 at end of row Row 15: Knit Row 16: K1 \*K2, YO, K2, K2tog\* K1 at end of row Repeat until desired length. To decrease for the bottom: Row 1: \*K2tog, K7, K2tog\* Row 2: \*K2tog, K5, K2tog\* Row 3: \*K2tog, K3, K2tog\* Row 4: \*K2tog, K1, K2tog\* Row 5: \*K2tog, K1\* There should be 8 stitches remaining. To finish, cut the yarn and use the tapestry needle to pull it through the last 8 stitches and fasten. Weave in all ends and block the piece. Pull the cozy over the glass jar and use the tapestry needle to thread the accent yarn through the eyelets and tie it in a bow. Place votive candle inside the jar. I used acrylic paint to add some color and shine to the jars before putting the cozy on.
