
Cat in The Hat Mittens
Make two.
Supplies Needles: Size 6 Straight needles - if you have a larger hand or smaller hand, go up or down a needle size or two. One big eyed tapestry needle. Yarn: Since the ones pictured were a test pattern, I used the following ones - but you can really use whatever you like Color A - 1 Skein of Red Heart Super Saver White Color B - 1 Skein of Red Heart Super Saver Cherry Red Color C - 1 Skein of Red Heart Super Saver Black Color D - 1 Skein of Caron Simply Soft Blue Mint Stitches usedKnit - K Purl - P Twisted Knit Stitch - KTBL Knit Front Back increase - KFB Purl front back increase - PFB Cast on 36 stitches, work in a KTBL2, P2 pattern (this is how the r pattern (this is how the pictured gloves were made, but you can of course do K2 P2 rib) for 18 rows (simply multiply this stripe pattern if you would like a longer cuff, such as elbow length.) K the next row, KFB four stitches evenly (there should now be 40 stitche P one row K one row K 18, inc, K2, inc, K 18 K1 row P1 row K 1 row P 18, PFB, P4, PFB, P 18 K1 row P1row K1 row P 18, PFB, P6, PFB, P18 K 1 row P1 row K 1 row P 18, PFB, P 8, PFB, P18 K1 row P1 row K1 row P 18, PFB, P 10, PFB, P18 Knit 18 sts and put them on a scrap piece of yarn or a holding needle, knit 14 and leave those sts on the needle, knit remaining 18 sts onto a holding needle or one a piece of scrap yarn.

Then work the same ribbing pattern you used on the cuff (KTBL2 P2 or K2 P2) for five rows, bind off. Pick up 18 sts on holding needle P1row K 1 row Work the same ribbing you did for the cuff and thumb, bind off. Repeat with second set of 18 sts. Don't seam up the glove yet. Thing 1 and Thing 2 Pockets NOTE: these pockets are more for style than use. CO 15 sts in color B; work 11 rows. Make two. Then in duplicate stitch, work the charts below. Sew the pockets onto the outside of the glove where the back of your hand will go. Seam up with preferred method. The Blue Thing Hair Make 2 tassles out of color D (small ones; small enough to fit in the pocket.) Carefully slide them into the pocket, then take color B and carefully sew the tassles into the inside of the pocket. Weave in the ends. You now have your own pair of Cat in The Hat Mittens!
