STAR WARS: Empire Beanie
Recommended yarn: Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash \* Yarn Colors: Black (Main Color), Dark Gray (Empire Insignia and Vader), Light Gray (lightsaber handles, Storm Trooper, and Vader accents), Red & Blue (lightsabers), Yellow (accents), and White (Storm Trooper) \*If using the recommended yarn, one skein of the main color (and less than that for the other colors) should be enough. Needle sizes: US 5 & US 7 (or size needed to obtain desired gauge) Gauge: 22 sts x 28 rows = 4 in Stockinette St (using larger needles) Size: Adult male \*Other sizes can easily be achieved by varying yarn weight and/or needle size
Pattern:
Using the smaller needles, CO 116 sts. Using the main body color (black), knit 10 rows (or to desired brim length) in 2x2 ribbing (k2, p2) all the way around. Follow the chart for the remainder of the hat. Each charted row should be knit twice per round, as the chart only shows half of the beanie. Use Fair Isle, Intarsia in the Round, or whichever colorwork technique you are comfortablewith. Green spaces in a chart row indicate a 2 stitch decrease. Only one decrease occurs per stretch of green, regardless of how green blocks are charted adjacent to each other (2 decreases per chart, 4 decreases total per round). I used a k3tog, but you are welcome to use whichever decrease method you feel would work best.
