
Mossinette Socks

Well, of course you don't have to make them pink, I won't cry or anything! ;) · Yarn: 2 skeins of Crystal Palace's Panda Cotton $[59\%$ bamboo - $25\%$ cotton - $16\%$ elastic nylon] (182 yards/168 meters per skein) in the Rosewater colorway. · Needles: set of US size 1.5 dpns $(2.5\mathrm{mm})$ or size needed to obtain gauge. · Gauge: 8.5 stitches to the inch in stockinette in the round. · Size: Women's medium to large. · Stitch Pattern: Mossinette Stripes: Work 5 rows of stockinette in the round, followed by 5 rows of moss stitch. Repeat stripes to work Mossinette pattern. · Moss Stitch: \*Knit 1, Purl $1^{*}$ repeat across round. On all following rounds, purl the knit stitches and knit the purl stitches.

Instructions:
Cuff and Leg
1. Cast on 60 stitches. Distribute stitches evenly over the dpns and join for working in the round. 2. Work 10 rounds of 2x1 ribbing. 3. Work alternating rows of Mossinette Stripes, starting with 5 rows of stockinette. Work for 7 total stripes or until leg is desired length.
Heel Flap
1. Knit 30 stitches onto 1 needle. 2. Purl these 30 stitches, ignoring the rest for now. 3. \*Slip 1, Knit $1^{*}$ repeat across heel stitches. 4. Slip 1, Purl across heel stitches. 5. Repeat steps three and four 11 more times.
Turning the Heel
1. Knit 18, ssk, knit 1, turn. 2. Slip 1, p7, p2tog, pl, turn. 3. Slip 1, knit to one stitch before gap, ssk, knit 1, turn. 4. Slip 1, purl to one stitch before gap, p2tog, purl 1, turn 5. Repeat steps three and four until all heel stitches have been worked. You should have 18 stitches left. 6. Knit across heel stitches. 7. With the same needle [Needle 1] pick up and knit 19 stitches along the edge of the heel flap. 8. With another needle [Needle 2] work the held instep stitches in Mossinette Stripes as established (30 stitches). 9. With another needle [Needle 3] pick up and knit 19 stitches along the other edge of the heel. 10. Knit 9 stitches from Needle 1 onto Needle 3. 11. You should have 28 stitches on both Needles 1 and 3 and 30 stitches on Needle 2.
Gusset
1. Needle 1: Knit to last three stitches, k2tog, knit 1. Needle 2: Work in Mossinette Stripes pattern as established Needle 3: Knit 1, ssk, knit across rest of needle. 2. Knit. 3. Repeat steps one and two 13 more times. You should now have 15 stitches on both Needles 1 and 3 and 30 on Needle 2.
Foot
1. Work stockinette on Needles 1 and 3 and Mossinette Stripes on Needle 2 until foot is about $1\ 1/2^{\circ}$ less than desired total foot length.
Toe
1. Needle 1: Knit to last three stitches, k2tog, knit 1. Needle 2: Knit 1, ssk, knit to last 3 stitches on needle, k2tog, k1. Needle 3: Knit 1, ssk, knit to end of needle. 2. Knit. 3. Repeat steps one and two 7 more times. You should now have 7 stitches on both Needles 1 and 3 and 14 stitches on Needle 2. 4. Knit the stitches from Needle 1 onto Needle 3. 5.
