BAG (make 2)
Using 4mm needles, cast on 40 sts. Work 5 cm in K2, P2 rib, ending with a ws row. Next row: K2, \*K2 tog, yo, K2; repeat from \* to 2 last sts, P2. Change to 5mm needles and starting with a P row work in st st for 9 cm. Row 1: K11, K2 tog tbl, K to last 13 sts, K2 tog, K11. Row 2 and alt rows: P Row 3: K10, K2 tog tbl, K to last 12 sts, k2 tog, k10. Row 5: K9, K2 tog tbl, K to last 11 sts, K2 tog, K9. Row 7: K8, K2 tog tbl, K to last 10 sts, k2 tog, K8. Row 9: K7, K2 tog tbl, K to last 9 sts, K2 tog, K7. Row 11: K6, K2 tog tbl, K to last 8 sts, K2 tog, k6. Row 13: K2 tog, K3, K2 tog tbl, K to last 7 sts, K2 tog, K3, K2tog. CORD
Using 5mm needles cast on 100 sts. Cast off all sts. HANDLES (make 2) Using 4mm needles cast on 6 sts. Row1:K Row 2: K1, P4, K1 Repeat these 2 rows until work measures 38 cm and cast Of.
FLOWER (2 lavers)
Layer 1 Using 5mm needles cast on 20 sts. Row 1 and alt rows: K Row 2: \*P1, P2 tog, P2; repeat from \* to end (16 sts). Row 4: P2 tog across row (8sts). Thread yarn through sts, tighten up and fasten off. Layer 2 Cast on 8 sts and work 3 rows in st st. Row 4: P2 tog, P4, P2 tog (6 sts). Thread yarn through sts and tighten. Sew up side seam. Assemble the flower by placing smaller piece on top of larger. Sew in loose ends and attach to bag.
MAKING UP
Sew in lining fabric, attaching to inside of bag just below the eyelet holes. Line bag handles and attach to bag placing ends of handles at the bottom of the rib. Thread the cord through the eyelet holes and tie as desired.
