Stitches
Ch-chain Sc-singlecrochet Slst-slipstitch Sc 2 together - draw up a loop in stitch, draw up a loop in next stitch (3 loops on hook) Yo and draw through all 3 loops on hook. (one decrease made) Cuff Round 1: Chain 7. Slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across. Chain 1, turn.(6slst) Round 2: Slip stitch in the back loop only of each slst, across. (6 slst) \*Repeat row 2 until piece is 3 inches long. Fold piece so that the stitches on both short ends are lined up together and slip stitch through both thicknesses of the ribbing, creating the cuff of the sock. Do not finish off.
Leg
Round 1: Ch 1, Make 24 Sc in each stitch around cuff Join with a slst to beginning sc. Round 2: Ch1, sc in each sc around; do not join Repeat Round 2 for the remaining 5 rounds. These will not be joined, but will continue in a spiral fashion (7 rows, total) using a stitch marker to keep track of the first stitch of each round and mark the center back of the sock. The 8th row is the beginning of the heel opening. This sock is constructed using an'afterthought heel', meaning it is added after the rest ofthe sock is completed.
Heel Opening
Row 8: Sc in each of next 19 sc's. Ch 12, skip next 12 sc's. Sc in next 12 sc and in next 12 chains. Sc in next 12 sc's. Place marker. This will mark the beginning of each round, Round 9: Sc in each sc, around. \*Repeat Round 9 for a total of 7 rows from beginning of the heel opening. Work these rows in a spiral. Move marker up to mark the first stitch of each round. End at marker after the 7th row of the foot is complete.

Begin Toe Decreases
Sc in next 4 sts, sc next 2 sts together. Rep around. (20 sts) Sc in next 3 sts. Sc next 2 sts. Together. Rep around (16 sts) Sc in next 2 sts, Sc next 2 sts together. Rep around (12 sts) Sc next 2 sts together; around. (6 sts) Finish off. Hold both edges of toe opening together andseamshut.
Heel
Round 1: Join yarn at center back of heel opening (center back marker). Ch1. Sc in same stitch as joining and in each sc around heel opening adding one extra stitch in each heel corner (28 sc). Place one marker at each corner stitch and proceed as follows. Round 2: Sc in each sc to 2 sts before the corner marker. Sc 2 together, sc in marked stitch, sc 2 together, sc in each sc until 2 sts before next corner marker. Sc 2 sts together, sc in marked st, sc 2 sts together, sc in each sc to center back marker. Repeat round 2 until only 8 sts remain. Finish off, seam opening. Weave in ends.
