Materials:
4mm double pointed needles DK mohair yarn (mine's a cheapo acrylic version, it's all good!) $5\times4\mathsf{m m}$ beads for the centre 26g jewellery wire Tapestry needle CO 48 sts and divide over 3 dpns so there's 16 on each. Join and knit 4 rounds. K2tog across - 24 sts. Cut the yarn so you're left with about a 10 inch tail. Thread this through all the stitches on the needle and pull ight to gather them up.
For a tiara:
Fasten off the yarn tail and cut. Twist 4 beads onto a single piece of wire so they form a square. Thread the remaining bead onto another piece of wire and twist tightly, then slip both iegs of the wire into the middle of the 4-bead square. Twist all the wires together like a stem and push this through the centre of the knitted flower, and add it to the wired portion of the tiara.
For a sewn embellishment:
Follow the instructions but use the yarn tail instead of wire. Full instructions for making a bead and wire tiara (with knitted leaves and flowers!) can be found in the pattern 'Greggory' on my designer page. The method for making them is identical even if the knitted sections and beads differ, so I didn't want to just repeat it all. They're the easiest things in the world to customise -have fun!
