Elegant Upcycled Knit Scarf Pattern: Legion of Honor Scarf with Tilli Tomas Beaded Lace Yarn

Legion of Honor Scarf

A Chic Bohemian Scarf made from your worsted weight left over yarn PLUs Tilli Tomas' Beaded Lace Yarn Level: Easy, requires ability to knit and knit two strands of yarn together as one strand Finished Size: $50^{\prime\prime}$ with fringe. However, as with most projects knit on large needles this will stretch...adding beauty and length to this particular project.

Material:

350 yds of any worsted weight left over yarn from your yarn basket. (If you want to make it extra chic, I mean over the top chic. I would use Tilli Tomas' Simply Heaven, pricey and not for everyone, but oh so silky and soft. I myself used my left over yarn from my overflowing left over yarn basket) 1 hank of Tilli Tomas silk Beaded Lace this is required

Materials Continued:

Size 13 Straight Knitting Needles, 1 Yarn Needle, crochet hook. Start out by winding the beautiful Tilli Tomas silk Bead Lace yarn hank into one ball. Now that you have winded the hank into a ball, cut 36 strips of 12 inches for the fringe FIRST! Immediately as you cut each $\pmb{12^{\prime\prime}}$ strands tie a knot at each end so the beading does not slide of. Take the remaining 132 yards of the Tilli Tomas Beaded Lace yarn and divide into approximately 3 smaller balls (make sure you tie both the start and end yarn strand of each ball, again so the beading does not slide off of the yarn).

CAST ON AND PATTERN DETAILING

Take two balls of your left over yarn and while holding them together as one strand of yarn, cast on 20 stitches. Knit to the end of the row (repeat for all rows). Helpful Hints to Make This Chic 1. You MUST use the Beaded Lace Yarn for your first and ending sections of the piece. Use the extra $3^{\mathsf{r d}}$ ball of the Tilli Tomas' silk Bead Lace in any other random spot where you need to integrate another color. Do not knit three strands yarns together. Knit the beaded lace with one strand of left over yarn or two strands of left over yarn, but again NOT the beaded lace with two strands of left over yarn at the same time. 2. Make sure you always knit 2 yarns together but NEVER end a strand of color in the middle of a row. Change colors at the END of the row.

FRINGE & FINISH

Ilike to use a crochet hook for this. Now that you have already cut your 36 Beaded Lace fringe pieces that are 12 inches, cut another 36 pieces of yarn of yourleft overyarn that are 12 inches in lenth. No need to tie knots at the ends ofthis yarn, unlessit hasatendance to"grow" then you would tie knots at the ends of each fringe piece after you have followed step 2 below. 1. Lay your scarf flat and put you crochet hook through one of the end loops (but do not divide the two colors and you need the extra strength) and place two strands of the cut fringe yarn together (one piece of the Beaded Lace yarn and one piece of the left over yarn strands) and put on the hook and pullthrough. Next take the hook around the top of the fringe and pullit around (crochet actually) the tail of the piece. Afterwards pullit tight and it should be firmly fringed. 2. Afterwards trim any uneven pieces. If you must trim the beaded lace yarn..make sure you tie a new knot at the end of the piece you just trimmed. Using your yarn needle weave in any strands. Viola tout!
